A breathtaking tropical paradise, Costa Rica is home to some of Central Americas most diverse and impressive rainforests and mountain ranges. The country boasts 26 national parks spanning over 25% of the nation’s total land area. Among the impressive range of trees large and small, the Guanacaste tree is by far one of the most useful and vital to Costa Rica. Identified as Costa Rica’s national tree, the Guanacaste (Enterolobium cyclocarpum) grows anywhere between 25-30 meters tall with a trunk diameter of 3.5 meters across.
Most of our tables, benches, and other pieces are cut from the Guanacaste tree, and all of our creations are made of wood that is originated from Permitted Forest Management and is Certified by Costa Rica and International Standards. We aim to ensure that each creation has a unique story told by the curves and contours of the natural wood. Our live-edge pieces display a true representation of the mesmerizing Costa Rican rainforests.
Different glosses and color-shades incorporate other features of Costa Rica’s spectacular landscape into our wood furnishings – bright and vibrant oranges mimic the astonishing sunsets on Pacific Coast beaches. Deep, mystic blues imitate the vast ocean which opens up as you slip off continental plate. Rugged browns and reds resemble the ominous fiery glow that lights up the night from some of Costa Rica’s many active volcanoes.
Sobremesa Wood Creations aims to bring a little piece of Costa Rica’s vast landscape into your living room or office space. Simply take a peak at our wide arrangement of available pieces, or let us know what it is you’re looking for, and we will make it happen.
